Scientific Week 2024: Call For Abstracts

Theme: «Digitalisation for socio-economic transformation in a globalising world: Opportunities and challenges»

The Scientific week is an annually organized conference on a given topic where researchers from different disciplines present their research findings. The topic of this year focuses on digitalisation.

1.  Background and context

The ubiquity of digitalisation is an unescapable reality. Digitalisation has become an integral part of personal, social and professional life. The plurality and complexity of information fuelled by digital media has eased communication, collaboration and interaction beyond vicinities. Moreover, the expansion and development of digital media have facilitated service delivery in education, health business, social and psychological domains, and the like. For instance, a connected mobile phone is now, in some countries around the world, sufficient to have access to finance service at the Bank and money transfer across the world is easier than ever. Despite the enormous advantages brought by digitalisation, different challenges are likewise evident. Insecurities, limited competences to manage the multiplicities of information, abuse of social media, propaganda via social media, hacking, ecological challenges footprints are just some examples. Consequently, there is a need of reflecting on not only the opportunities but also the challenges related to the digitalisation of all our systems in a more globalising world.
